OAXACA VALLEY AND COAST

DAY 01. OAXACA – CITY TOUR

Reception at the airport or bus station in Oaxaca and transfer to the hotel of your choice. Check in at the hotel. Check in is from 15:00 hrs onwards.

At the appointed time, appointment in the lobby of your hotel to begin with the walk through the main sites of interest of the city, where through flavors, colors, smells and green quarry we will discover the history of our beautiful Oaxaca. We will walk through the Zócalo of the city, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. The market vendors will surprise us with a “what can we give you?” “Chapulines!” “Tortillas!”, and the different aromas will provoke our craving and prepare our palate to taste a little taste of quesillo, chapulines, nieves. We finish with a chocolate grinding. The transfer back to the hotel is at the passenger’s expense. Lodging.

DAY 02. OAXACA – TOUR OPTION A) OAXACA- VISIT MONTE ALBAN, ARRAZOLA, CUILAPAM AND SAN BARTOLO OYOTEPEC:

 

OPTION A) OAXACA- VISIT MONTE ALBAN, ARRAZOLA, CUILAPAM AND SAN BARTOLO OYOTEPEC.

 

In the morning we will pick you up at your hotel, approximately at 10:00 hrs. to visit the amazing Archaeological Zone of Monte Alban, ancient capital of the Zapotecos, and one of the most important cities in ancient Mesoamerica, it was founded approximately 500 B. C. flourishing until 750 A.D. on an immense esplanade, pyramids, temples, patios, palaces and a ball game, all this makes the visit a journey full of mystery discovering about the ancient Zapotecos, which characterizes the state of Oaxaca. Later we move to San Antonio Arrazola famous for the wooden figures called Alebrijes, we will pass to Cuilápam a beautiful former convent of the Dominican order of 1556, it has an open chapel that was never finished. It was in this historic monument where General Vicente Guerrero was imprisoned and finally shot. Finally we will go to San Bartolo Coyotepec: in this town is made the famous black clay pottery, various products made by hand and baked in a kiln underground using ancient techniques of burnishing and fretwork. Return to Oaxaca City at approximately 18:00 hrs. Includes lunch during the tour (drinks not included). Lodging.

 

OPTION B) OAXACA – MITLA, BOIL THE WATER, TULE TREE AND TEOTITLÁN DEL VALLE

 

At 10:00 hrs. we will take the road to the Tule Tree, legendary ahuehuete with more than 2000 years of history. And then we expect the petrified waterfalls, there are only two in the world, which are: Hierve el Agua, Oaxaca and Pamukkale, Turkey. It is a network of springs of non-thermal waters, although strongly effervescent, which appear to be at boiling point, and that due to their high content of mineral salts have been forming petrified waterfalls along its runoffs. We continue to the archaeological site of Mitla, “The city of the dead”, built by the Mixtecs, where we will admire the syncretism of its buildings in walls adorned with stone fretwork. Afterwards, we will taste a delicious mezcal, while we learn about the artisanal process of elaboration. Finally, we visit Teotitlán del Valle, a town known for the production of wool rugs. Lunch is included in the tour (drinks not included). Return to Oaxaca at approximately 19:00 hrs. Overnight.

 

DAY 03. OAXACA – GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCE WITH TASTING.

 

At approximately 10:00 hrs we will begin our adventure “Pre-Hispanic Flavors”. Oaxacan gastronomy is one of the most diverse and complete in Mexico, with unique and incomparable flavors that satisfy the most demanding palates. And why not? Learn these exquisite recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation in the company of experts. Enjoy a day of shopping at the market, listening to the stories and tips to choose the best ingredients and prepare our palate with the symphony of aromas and colors that we will contemplate in this tour. Becoming traditional cooks for a day, setting the table and tasting our own dishes will be an experience not to be missed. Lunch during the tour (drinks not included). Later return to your hotel. Lodging.

 

DAY 04.            OAXACA – VILLAGES AND MEZCALS

Meet at the hotel lobby at 09:00 hrs. to begin the tour with a visit to a typical house of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, where a delicious and authentic Oaxacan chocolate with traditional bread awaits us, and the company of a family of artisans, who proudly tells us about their traditions and crafts that have been passed down from generation to generation.

We continue our tour in the house of a mezcal family, this is an excellent opportunity to get into the authentic mezcal culture, learn about the ancestral process to obtain this spirit, from the collection and selection of seeds, planting and transplanting to the distillation, where we taste the drink that for many years has been representative of Oaxaca. Lunch on the tour (not included) and later return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

 

DAY 05. OAXACA – HUATULCO

At the scheduled time we will pick you up at the hotel lobby to take you by land (van option) and/or to the airport (air option) to Huatulco. Arrival, check in at the hotel. Free afternoon to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Huatulco. Lodging.

 

DAY 06. HUATULCO – VISIT OF THE BAYS

Approximately at 9:30 a.m. we will pick you up at your hotel lobby to enjoy the wonders that the destination offers with its spectacular bays and beaches, on a tour aboard a boat you can observe the beautiful scenery of the bays of Santa Cruz, Organo, Maguey, Cacaluta and Chachacual. We move to the dock of Santa Cruz, to board the boat, which will host all the fun and a magnificent experience. Along the way, we will be delighted with the spectacular view of the vegetation, the unique color of the sand and the surprises that Mother Nature keeps in the sea. Our first stop will be at Chachacual Bay, a totally virgin bay considered a great ecological reserve integrated to the Huatulco National Park with low deciduous jungle vegetation and mangroves with species such as acacia, ficus and mangrove; in this bay we will take advantage of the beach where we will go snorkeling, which is an activity of shallow diving in shallow waters, where we will explore the reef and various marine species ranging from colorful fish, starfish, sea urchins, among others. When we get out of the water we will enjoy an unforgettable stay on the beach and swim a little on the shore of it, it is characterized by its moderate waves, has a length of 1,200 meters and its width varies between 30 and 40 meters.

 

After this time we will continue our adventure on the boat to observe some natural attractions such as: the bufadero, the famous stone face called “Rostro mixteco” and the turtle-shaped island; we will travel a little offshore and with luck we will be able to observe other marine species such as dolphins, manta rays and different species of turtles and birds. Afterwards we will go to Maguey Bay to go down once again, swim and enjoy a delicious seafood lunch, among the specialties are fish a la carving, stuffed pineapple, lobster with butter, shrimp au gratin, among others. The approximate time to enjoy this beach is 2 hours before starting the return trip. Overnight.

 

DAY 07. HUATULCO – HUATULCO AIRPORT

At the indicated time transfer to the airport to take your flight back. End of services.
